We took Kyler to meet Mickey today at Chef Mickey’s in the Contemporary Resort. He started breakfast by sleeping but woke up just in time to meet Minnie, Pluto and Mickey. We had to leave before we got a chance to meet Donald and Goofy, so we’ll have to meet up with those guys next time.

Kyler got to ride a horse today! Sort of. OK, it was more of a horse on a carousel. But he seemed to have a good time.

Kyler had a big day today. He rode a horse (on a carousel) and met all of the biggest Disney characters (in the store; and in “stuffed” format). Regardless, he had fun.

Kyler slept from the moment we left the hotel this morning, through the car ride, through breakfast, through the car ride to Animal Kingdom, through the walk to the front gate of the park, through a phone call to my parents and through 1/2 of the Asia Jungle Trek. I guess he was tired!

We took a video of him waking up. His new favorite thing is the blanket in the photo. He loves how soft it is and often wraps his hands around the inside of it and then keeps the blanket close to him.

Ever since we got to WDW, Kyler has discovered a new friend: Mickey Mouse. Later in the week, we’re going to take him to have breakfast with Mickey. For now, Kyler doesn’t want to miss a moment of Mickey’s TV show.

Today, we started the morning at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and had lunch at the new Yak & Yeti restaurant. The restaurant is an awesome design and really well themed. The food was pretty good, too. Our appetizers were excellent and the entrees were pretty good as well. The service was just OK. It was very un-Disney to see waiters consistently pass by napkins laying on the floor and never pick them up. I counted 6 different waiters (and one manager) who walked right over a napkin that had fallen in the middle of the isle.

The other disappointment was checking in for our reservations at the restaurant (which was obviously my FIRST impression). There were two stands within 1 foot of another and 4 people working them. I went to the first stand and was told by the woman there that I’d have to “find Scott.” Scott was carrying a clip board with the reservation list for the day. I tried to check-in with him, but he told me to stand in the second line for the other stand. I waited there only to hear the guy behind that one say “Scott, come here…” and then he asked Scott to check us off his list.

It was really quite ridiculous. Later, I saw Scott distracting another waiter as the two of them flirted. If you’re going to the Yak & Yeti restaurant any time soon, might I suggest avoiding Scott at all costs.

Enough of Scott, on to our pictures.

In the past 24 hours, Kyler’s been exposed to weather that’s 79 degrees and sunny, 62 rainy and windy and 48 and sunny with absolutely no wind whatsoever. He’s figured out that we’ll take care of dressing him accordingly, but he wasn’t crazy about the bright sun.

We went to the store to try on hats and glasses for him. One hat was clearly his favorite and today he got to wear it … except it was too cold so we had to put it OVER his winter hat. He didn’t seem to mind at all, infact he seemed to like it.

Also, his second WDW park is officially Animal Kingdom and his second ride is “Its Tough To Be A Bug” which he really seemed to like. He even wore the special bug 3D glasses for a while!

Its official. The first park Kyler ever visited at Walt Disney World is the Magic Kingdom. The first ride he ever went on (not counting the monorail to get there or the baby station where he requested a diaper change) is the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (TTA).

He likes being forward-facing to see everything. He doesn’t like the sun … at all (too bright - guess we’ll be getting him a hat soon). He really seemed to like the darker parts of the ride. Maybe his next ride should be Haunted Mansion!
