Kyler turned one last week. I’ll post more pics and videos of that later. Man! Does one year fly by!

We took him for his one year check up on the same day he attempted to go downstairs by himself, face first. He was a bit bruised up by it but pretty tough considering the tumble and four shots he endured at the doctor’s office. As you can see from the pictures, the high point of the day was reading a book and checking out the fish at the doctor’s office.

On my podcast, I sign off each episode by saying “Rock on!” I’m not sure why I do that. Just something I did once that stuck, I guess. What’s funny is how many times I’ve heard that phrase used since I started doing it nearly 3 years ago. The most recent example was when I visited the Original Pancake House in Maple Grove, MN (which by the way, is one of my FAVORITE restaurants!). They had the latest issue of a local magazine featuring rock work…

Kyler and I spent our first weekend alone while Johna was out of town. That meant that Kyler got to do things mom doesn’t allow ;) like looking in the refrigerator. The weekend went well. Kyler and I had fun going to the toy store (and getting a school bus - which he loves seeing on the road), grabbing lunch together and running errands. It was a fun weekend but it reminded me how much easier it is to do “outings” when Johna is there as well.

Netcot.com (my Disney site and the source of my alter ego) has been around for a LONG time. Like since ‘94 or something. In that time, we’ve been with a lot of different ISPs. Infact, in that time, we’ve even been KICKED OFF of at least two of them (one for traffic, one for content).

And now another ISP (anhosting.com - whom we’ve had for well over a year) falls into the category of ISPs that once were. I really liked this company initially but in the last few months I’ve lost count of how many odd problems have occurred on their servers leaving Netcot.com off-line. So, last week I made the decision to pick up and move shop.

Only one problem: the day I scheduled the move, the ISP went down again. Doh!

Last night, I began the move process to GoDaddy.com, which is an ISP LOTS of people use. Because of the size and amount of hits (traffic) the site gets, I was forced into one of their higher plans, meaning more out-of-pocket cash on a site where I just haven’t been able to translate a big audience into big revenue. I ran into two issues right out of the chute and the tech support left something (more than something, really) to be desired.

I woke up this morning with sudden clarity: this one isn’t meant to be. I’m having trouble setting things up; tech support isn’t helpful (and takes a LONG time to get back to me); and its costing me nearly 4X what the previous service was.

So this morning, I went to plan B (which, for the record was plan A - but as I did research, I realized nearly all other Disney fan sites use GoDaddy.com - so I thought I’d do the same). I’m now in the process of finalizing the setup of Netcot.com on the new ISP and I’m anxious to see how things go now.

I don’t want to admit how much effort I’ve put into moving this site - its been a lot of work. Hopefully it’ll all be worth it.

I took Kyler out to the backyard the other day to water some plants. Normally, he likes to sit and watch from the comfort of his stroller. This time, while wattering the back of the garden with my back to him, I heard a big giggle and turned around to see he had figures out how to “exit” the stroller. I guess I need to always tighten the straps.

Kyler has been walking around wherever and whenever he can - but only if one of us are there to lend a couple of fingers he can hold on to. Just yesterday he decided he wanted to stand up entirely on his own. He did it once in the morning and a few times in the evening. Here are some pics of the “process.” (And yes, he prefers to be more perfeclty balanced via the use of a diaper with no shorts when he does this.)

Kyler loves eating food that looks more like the stuff everyone else is eating and less like stuff that’s baby-ready. We recently took him to Panera and let him enjoy his own baguette.

It’s football time again!

Kyler (who normally could care less about anything related to the TV) was willing to sit down with me for a while and check out one of the games. Now I just need to get a photo of him in his Broncos PJs.
